We made the bed last night in a sleep-laden state, just so we could get in it. After we put our precious boy to bed, we quickly got horizontal. My body ached, reacting to a FULL day of running on empty, functioning on little sleep after having spent the previous two nights awake, comforting a sleepless boy, while he writhed in pain caused by an outer ear infection. I felt helpless, overwhelmed with compassion, and frustrated that the doctor’s prescribed treatment hadn’t yet begun to take effect.
As I settled in bed, I felt each ache of my body as my muscles conformed to the mattress, independently and collectively releasing the tension from days gone by. And, as I laid there in silence, I was brought back to his pain and suffering…
